About GD Harries

GD Harries is one of Wales’ largest independent suppliers of aggregates as well as being a major civil engineering company.

Situated in West Wales, we own seven granite, limestone and sandstone quarries, three asphalt plants, eight concrete plants and our own sea transportation port at Pembroke Dock.

Originally established as a small haulage and plant hire operator in 1977, GD Harries has continually invested in our local workforce and where possible work with local suppliers in the region. In 2020 we became part of SigmaRoc, a specialist quarrying group who invest in high quality quarries throughout Europe to extract low and high grade materials for use in construction, agriculture, environmental and industrial applications. GD Harries is the cornerstone for SigmaRoc’s Welsh platform.

Our vision

Our name is held in high regard and we are respected for the high quality of our products and services. Our vision is to continue to retain and further develop our customer base and to be the supplier of choice in our areas of operation. We acknowledge that customers who have a positive experience working with us will determine this goal. We will continue to strive for product and service improvements. We aim to add to the quality, process and environmental accreditations we have already received.

Our business is competitive and thrives for the reason that we hold sustainability innovation at its heart. Infrastructure businesses today are facing many challenges, including resource scarcity, urbanisation, population growth, ecological decline and climate change. However, these challenges are also great opportunities for our business. We are responding to these challenges with imagination and agility, supporting the enduring success of our clients in a rapidly changing social and physical context.

The three main areas we have identified for sustainable innovation are:

  • New products
  • Operational efficiency
  • Social performance

Our approach to sustainable innovation is built on leadership, engagement, knowledge sharing and collaboration. It’s an approach that doesn’t just depend on our employees – it also means working closely with our supply chain and our clients, who will be the ultimate beneficiaries of our innovations.
